The Mommy Survey

I decided to fill out this "Mommy Survey" that has been going around. It's kind of fun, so anyone who has a desire to fill it out, go ahead and do so! Especially you, Tara! :) Oh, and sorry there are no pictures of us at the hospital. All of our pictures are on our laptop, and Jon currently has it at work right now. I'll put pictures on later...enjoy! :)

1. Age(s)? Almost 6 Months

2. Name(s)? Elizabeth Katherine

3. Birthday(s)? 8/12/07

4. Time(s) of birth? 5:07 p.m.

5. How long did labor last? Only 12 hours! I am SO lucky! My water broke (in bed) at 5:00 a.m. and I had her almost exactly 12 hours later.

6. Who was in the room when baby was born? Jonathan, my Mom, the doctor and a few nurses.

7. How long did you push? Luckily, again, I only had to push for 1/2 an hour! Pushing was my favorite part of the whole labor experience. I must be weird (well, I know I am), but I really LOVED the pushing part! I was actually dying laughing right before I pushed her out! The nurses were a little shocked. :)

8. Weight? 7 pounds, 7 ounces

9. Length? 20 inches

10. Any hair? Oh yes did she have hair! She had a TON of thick black hair, just like her Daddy's.

11. Who does baby look like? Hmmm...almost exactly like Jonathan. Although I'm sure that she inherited SOMETHING from me! :) The chubby cheeks, perhaps?

12. Be honest...how much weight did you gain while pregnant? I gained 32 pounds. I don't think that it's EVER going to all come off! Oh well...it was completely worth it!

13. Was the baby early or late? She was 12 days early - hooray! I couldn't wait a second longer! (And either could my Mom...she "camped" here in Lancaster for about 5 weeks waiting for the baby to get here so that she could be present in the labor and delivery room!). Thanks Mom!

14. Who drove you home from the hospital? Jonathan

15. How many baby showers did you have? Two. My Grandma Turley threw my sister, Tara, and I a double baby shower in Salt Lake (which was really nice of her, considering that neither of us were actually present at the showers). And my sister-in-law, Darlene, threw me a really awesome baby shower here in Lancaster. Thanks Darlene! :)

16. When did baby start sleeping through the night? Embarrassingly enough, not yet! Elizabeth is SO inconsistent! Sometimes she'll sleep from 7:30 to 5:00 (HEAVEN!), but most of the time she wakes up over and over again throughout the night and then will want to eat at about 4:00 a.m. I'm constantly trying to figure out what I do differently on the nights when she sleeps really well vs. the nights when she doesn't sleep well. I can never figure it out! Oh well...I guess that she'll eventually learn, right?

17. Did you breastfeed? Yes, I am a huge fan of breastfeeding. I absolutely love it! At the beginning, I wasn't too fond of it. But after I got the hang of it, I really loved it! I can't imagine feeding a baby any other way.

18. Who takes care of your baby/kids the most? Me!

19. When do you want to have another one? Well, considering that my pregnancy and delivery was a complete breeze (hardly any morning sickness, etc.), then I'm ready for another baby as soon as Heavenly Father will send us one! :) (Maybe I'll follow my Mom's example and have 4 kids in 5 1/2 years...but then again, maybe not!).

20. How did you pick the name(s)? Well, we struggled for a while with the decision of what we were going to name her (for me, that was the hardest part about being pregnant!). :) We had a zillion names picked out, but we just couldn't decide. Then I had a dream one night that we were at the hospital and we told everyone that her name was Elizabeth Katherine. I told Jon about the dream and the name just stuck!

21. How did you know when it was time to go to the hospital? When I woke up at 5:00 a.m. in a puddle of water. :) I woke up Jonathan and he jumped out of bed (something unheard of for him at such an early hour of the morning). I wasn't sure if it was urine or amniotic fluid...so I woke up my Mom and asked her and Jonathan to sniff it (I know, pretty gross). When the mystery fluid kept leaking out of my you-know-where, I figured that we should probably head to the hospital! We weren't packed (of course), so we spent a good while packing bags. And then Jonathan took a shower and dressed up in his Sunday best. I couldn't believe it! Who does that?! He said that he wanted to look his best in the first pictures that he takes with his new daughter. Only my husband...

22. Anyone spend the night with you the first night home? Let's see...Jonathan (of course), Elizabeth (of course), and my parents.

23. Did you cry the first time you held your baby? Yes, I did the whole "ugly cry" thing. :)

24. Where was the baby born? Lancaster, CA

25. Did you video tape the birth? No. After teaching health for 2 years and watching "The Miracle of Life" a zillion times, I have seen a baby come out of the vagina WAY TOO MANY TIMES! I had no desire to see it again! :) However, we did use the video camera throughout the day and immediately after the birth. It will be fun to watch it later on down the road. :)

You are killing me with your easy, breezy pregnancy and labor. I can't believe that you liked pushing, you are crazy. See, people like you need to have 10 kids! You are a trooper and that is so cute that Jonathon dressed up to go. He is such a good guy, how sweet and very memorable!!!
