Life is going super here at the Over residence! Elizabeth his growing up so fast and getting so big! I mean, GIGANTIC! She just barely turned 5 months old last week and she is fitting into 12-month clothes. No joke! I'm not exaggerating when I say that she is GIGANTIC!! :) And we just absolutely love her to pieces...and so do the rest of her "worshipers". :)
Elizabeth is doing really well with learning how to sit up by herself. She needs to use the boppy for support still, but it will be gone pretty soon. Recently, she has really enjoyed playing with that colorful toy that you see her with below (I can't remember the name of it!). She also LOVES reading (well, LOOKING) at the book that you see. She can stare at that thing for about a 1/2 hour at a time! She also loves to watch Baby Einstein (especially Baby Beethoven and Baby Bach).

Isn't she a doll? :)
Below is a what Elizabeth typically looks like when she's excited (you know, the whole hand-in-the-mouth thing). She looks so much cuter in real life, but it's difficult to catch the moment on camera.
Here she is, being her calm little self, sitting in her high chair. Elizabeth loves to sit in her high chair and watch me cook.
"Come on Mom, would you please stop it with the picture thing?!"
We got her this bouncer toy that hangs in the doorway. She LOVES it! It's a great toy to get her chubby little legs moving! :) She's got really strong legs too...
Here she is, chilling with Grandma Over...
Elizabeth and I love going on walks together. It has started to warm up a bit (on some days) and so we have tried to take advantage of it by exploring the great outdoors. :)
Elizabeth has discovered her feet...and she really loves the taste of them. :)
Elizabeth may look a little different in the following pictures...because Jon gave her a haircut. Yes, it's sad, but true. :) In an effort to not make Jon feel TOO badly about it, I'll just say that it would have looked a million times worse if I would have done it! :) I just wanted him to even it out a bit at the back (she had some longer pieces that looked really funny). Well, one thing let to another and it turned into a full-blown whack job. But, of course, we still think the world of her anyway. Would you expect anything less from her parents? :)
Here she is, sitting at her new little table that Jon made for her. It's so cute! And it matches the cherry wood color of her crib and dresser. It will be fun to use when she gets a little bit older...

Daddy's teaching her some basic scales on our piano. If we start her out this young, she'll be a professional by kindergarten, right? :)
Recently, Elizabeth has LOVED this red cup. I use one just like it in the bath with her and she has grown very fond of it. I give her a whole stack of them sometimes and she's in "red cup heaven". :)
We started feeding her veggies last week. She seems to like them! Especially the peas (although these pictures may have you convinced otherwise). :)
Well, that's a lot of pictures...sorry for the overload!
Also, I'm in need for some simple motherly advice. I don't know what to do about her binky! It's driving me insane! :) She loves the thing to death...so I feel bad taking it away from her. But I am getting up SO MANY times each night to put the binky back in her mouth because she can't fall asleep on her own without it. What should I do? Any suggestions are welcome... :) Thanks! :)

Andrea, those pictures of Elizabeth are so precious!!! I can't get over how cute she is! Love the one of her playing the piano with her Daddy.
Kai and Kennet never used binky's a whole lot, just when fussy. But I do remember with Kai (about 6 months old) we went someplace and forgot it and he just had to make do without it. (it wasn't real pretty) but he, and we, survived. We threw them out when we got home. But all kids are different I suppose. Sorry I am not much help!
Chloee did the same thing and it was really annoying having to get up in the middle of the night a million times to give it to her. We finally just let her cry it out. She would cry because she couldn't find it and I would lay awake, going insane, knowing that all I had to do was go in and give it to her but it worked after a little while. I, of course stayed up until she went back to sleep and then went in and checked on her to make sure everything was okay. It will take a little bit and she may cry for a while at first but then when they realize you aren't going to come in and get it for her, after a fight (at least Chloee) went back to sleep. I don't know, all kids are different but worth a try!
Seth only used a binky for the first 3 months, then when you tried to stick it in his mouth (usually at church) he would get so mad!! Sometimes I wish I had a binky for him now though.....he talks 24/7 (but really, I'm just kidding :) Sorry I'm not more help! Good luck w/it. I love all the cute pictures of Elizabeth & I love the one of her "playing" the piano, I am so glad you guys have the internet now :)
hmmm. Do I ever have binky advice for you:)
We finally just decided to quit the binky "cold turkey." It was hard for the first few days but it was sooo worth it. She was waking up all night for her binky, and couldn't get to sleep in the first place without it. I just put her to bed without it the first night, she fell asleep after a good bit of crying. When she woke up for her nightly binky I went in and rubbed her tummy to help her get back to sleep. She finally did after crying quite a bit. Sound so harsh but she finally slept through the night!
Without the binky at naps and bedtime I had to get rid of it all other times too- it worked best that way.
So if you can stand to let her "cry it out" then go for it. She was sleeping all night, no waking on the third night. The second night she only woke and cried a little.
Naomi was 6 months when I did this.
Also, there is the option of cutting the tip off the binky to make it less appealing, giving it no suction pleasure. So there's my two bits. GOOD LUCK!
Hey Andrea. How's the binki going? I know it's hard to let her cry...call me anytime if you're going crazy. Mikey's binkis are gone and I know you can do it too! Can you give my email to Veronica so I can see her blog?

Thanks! Talk to you soon!
She is such a doll! I can't believe her hair and her chubby cheeks. I just want to kiss them. I love chubby cheeks! Good luck with the binky thing. My kids are thumb suckers, and you can't take their thumbs off. From what I've read about the binky thing, it said to take it away little by little. See if you can take it away at naps, and then just let her have it at night. Then, just take it away all together, and see if you can find another way to soothe her. It's hard to hear them cry. Makes you feel like an awful mother, but at least she won't be that wierd 4 year old in church that still has a binky:)
Sorry, as I have no kids yet I am no help with the binky situation. I just had to tell you what a DOLL your precious daughter is!!! The pictures of her are so much fun. I bet you have the time of your life with her every day. Thanks for finding my blog and letting me know where to find you! :)
