Yesterday was one of those wonderful days that you could repeat over and over again. Due to Veteran's day, Jon didn't have to go to work, which is always a plus. The weather was perfect, in the upper 60's. There was an indescribable stillness in the air that we seem to rarely feel around here. It even seemed as if time itself was standing still in an effort to help us savor the day even more. Really strange.
Here is how we spent our day...
Here is how we spent our day...
6:30 a.m: Bryce woke up to eat, and I could hear Lizzie talking to herself in her bedroom. I left our bedroom with Bryce and fed him in Lizzie's room while I read her books (she LOVES her books).
7:45 a.m: Jon woke up (I wish that he would have slept in longer...) and I made breakfast. We had homemade whole wheat waffles with strawberries, bananas, and whipping cream on top. Lizzie devoured them like there was no tomorrow.
9:00 a.m: I fed Bryce, and then went running. I went four miles, which used to be absolutely nothing for me, but is now an accomplishment. I love running so much. Any day that I am able to squeeze a run in is heaven sent. Jon is really good about watching the kids whenever he can so that I can go. He is such a wonderful husband. I can't help but feel guilty because it seems as if he never gets to do anything for himself. He claims that he plays video games every once in a while. But that doesn't really count in my book.
11:00 a.m: After showering, getting the kids ready, and packing the diaper bag, we went thrift store shopping. We went to about 4 different stores, but we didn't buy anything. We weren't really looking for anything in particular, but it's fun to go to those places because you can sometimes find really good deals on great things.
1:00 p.m: We went out to eat at B.J's. I hadn't been to my favorite restaurant since I went into labor with Bryce, so it was good to go there again. B.J.'s has AMAZING and REALLY CHEAP lunch specials. I ordered a half BBQ chicken sandwich and it came with a large salad and wedge fries. Jon ordered a personal pan pizza and is came with a large salad. We ordered Lizzie some chicken nuggets and fries. I know, we should have chosen a healthier meal for Lizzie to eat, but she really loves her nuggets! We try to make up for her nugget addiction by feeding her healthier foods the rest of the time. :) I ate my salad and sandwich, but couldn't really eat any of my fries (which is really a good thing, I guess). Lizzie and I couldn't finish eating our meals (of course), so Jon gladly licked our plates clean for us. It really is wonderful having a human garbage disposal for a husband.
3:00 p.m: We arrived back home. Lizzie fell asleep in the car (hallelujah) and so we put her in her bed to finish her nap. Jon left again to run some errands. I tidied up the house a bit and then read General Conference talks while feeding Bryce.
4:00 p.m: Lizzie woke up. I turned on Christmas music and cuddled with my two kids on the couch for about half an hour. I know, Christmas music? I don't care if it's only November. Having only one month to listen to it isn't enough for me. I need at least 2 months, if not more.
4:30 p.m: Played with Lizzie in her room until Jon got home. We went outside in our "garden" (as Lizzie likes to call it) so that Jon could pull out the weeds. Our house doesn't have grass in the front yard (nor do any of the other houses in our development). In an effort to save water, the whole entire neighborhood has front lawns resembling the desert. The yards are covered in rocks and pebbles, with a few trees and dessert flowers. I know, it sounds kind of ugly. And I'll be honest, it is. We want to be the first one on our block to get rid of the desert landscape and plant grass instead, but we'll just have to see what happens. For now, however, we will look on the bright side. We don't have to water our lawn.
5:15 p.m: Jon surprised me with this:
5:30 p.m: As a family, we took out Lizzie's crayons and colored on her "big white pad of paper". What did we draw? Christmas trees and snowmen. Of course. While listening to Bocelli. Of course.
6:30 p.m: Dinner time. We had left-overs and other random things. I enjoyed a salad, with left-over homemade re-fried beans. Lizzie and I also split an avocado -- yum!
8:00 p.m: Baths are done. Toys are put away. Kids are in bed and fast asleep (we hope). Life is good. After reading our scriptures (we are reading the Docterine and Covenants), we snuggle up on the couch and thoroughly enjoy this:

I love that movie. I never saw it until I got married, but I'm a huge fan now. Especially of the soundtrack, which we have. The movie would be nothing without the music.
I'm so grateful for days like these.
