Hooray!!! Our son, Jonathan Bryce Over, FINALLY entered the world on Tuesday, September 1st at 8:44 p.m. We named him Jonathan, after his daddy, but we are going to be calling him by his middle name, Bryce (we both really like that name). He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 inches long. Bryce is absolutely the most handsome baby that I have ever seen in my entire existence. He is an exact clone of his Daddy. :) Here is his story...
On Tuesday, my husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. We weren't planning on doing anything to celebrate, just go out to dinner. So, around 5:30, Jon and I left Lizzie with my Mom and headed to BJ's, one of our favorite restaurants. I was, obviously, experiencing no contractions whatsoever at this point and had full intentions of returning home after eating dinner and waiting another week or so until the baby came. Apparently, Heavenly Father had other plans!
After ordering our food, I began feeling a little bit uncomfortable, but kind of ignored it. Pretty soon, I couldn't ignore it and realized that I was indeed having strong contractions and that they were coming 5 minutes apart. What?! In the middle of our anniversary celebration?! :) I got up to go to the bathroom and I knew at that moment that I was in labor. We told the waitress that I was in labor and that we needed our check. (She kind of freaked out a little bit!) We got in the car and I wanted to go home first to pick up our bags, but my husband convinced me otherwise. It's a good thing too, because I'm positive that if I would have gone home first I would have ended up calling an ambulance to take me to the hospital! The contractions kept getting closer and closer together on the way to the hospital, and increasingly more painful as well.
We arrived at the hospital at about 6:45 p.m. and I was dilated to a 5. Things happened so quickly after that that it seems like a blur. The pain was so severe that I decided that I wanted an epidural, however, the one anesthesiologist in the hospital was stuck in surgery and couldn't get to me. What?! What kind of hospital only has one anesthesiologist?! But it didn't matter anyway because things were happening so quickly. I was soon dilated to a 7, then a 9.5 and my water finally broke at that point. Unfortunately, the water was full of miconium. :( The doctor came in and assisted the nurses with the pushing. Bryce's heart rate began dropping with each contraction and I knew that the baby needed to come out quickly. He had already descended into the vagina and so a c-section wasn't an option at this point. The doctor ended up having to use suction to get Bryce out quickly, and as a result I tore pretty badly (ouch!). But all was well when Bryce finally exited the birth canal. He scored high on the apgar scale and he didn't even end up breathing in any of the miconium. I was relieved to have labor over with so quickly, and I'm sure that Jon was relieved to stop getting beat up by me. :) During my contractions, I was squeezing him, hitting him, and pushing him in an effort to make it through the pain. Poor guy! :)
Bryce has been such a blessing in our lives already and I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has entrusted me with another spirit to watch over. Lizzie is taking everything surprisingly well (for now, at least). Here are a few pictures...

Without an epidural I'm sure glad that everything went to quickly. And Andrea, I have to say that you are the cutest pregnant woman ever! I'm glad that you posted that picture of you at the end of your pregnancy, your all baby belly and nothing else! :) Enjoy this special time with your family, I'm so excited for you. :)

CONGRATS! You poor thing... no anesthesia (I am tried and can't spell)! I can't even imagine that. He is absolutely beautiful though! I love his dark hair. It reminds me of my Jack. Boys are so fun! I think you will find out that they are much more crazy active than girls, but lot's 'n lot's of fun anyway!
