The Science Museum

Summer is now over as we know it, as Jon had to go back to work on Wednesday for teacher training. The first day of school is Monday. I can't believe how fast the summer flew by! It was a major blessing having Jon not working when we moved into our house. If he was still working, it would have taken us FOREVER to unpack and paint, etc. It has been really nice having him around during the day! And Lizzie has become sooooo attached to him it's not even funny. Yesterday, when we got back from our morning walk, she spent almost an hour calling out for Daddy and searching the house for him. It took her a while to finally realize that Daddy was at work. It was sad!

The day before Jon returned to work, we went to the Science Museum for the first time. Lizzie loved it! I was really impressed with the museum myself because it seems to capture the attention of toddlers and adults alike, a seemingly impossible feat. The best part about it, however, was that it was FREE! :)

Here are some pictures:

Here is the little play area made specifically for toddlers...

Gotta love the ducky backpack/leash!

There was a little craft area where Lizzie got to color her own butterfly and glue it on a popsicle stick. Yeah...do you think that it made it home in one piece? I don't think so.

I had a hard time understanding why there was a giant piece of stuffed CORN amongst the giant stuffed animals...Lizzie liked it though.

Daddy and Lizzie building a house together...

It was such a great day! I could go there every day...well, almost every day.

A couple of side notes...

****Things are starting to wind down with this pregnancy. I'm only 36 weeks, but I'm predicting that the baby will come a little bit early, like Lizzie did. I'm dilated to a 1, which doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it could. I'm having braxton-hicks like CRAZY, but not any real contractions as of yet. I'm just hoping that the baby doesn't come on the first day of school, like Lizzie did. That year, poor Jon had to miss the entire first week of school and any of you teachers out there know that the first week is essential in setting the tone for the entire year. Needless to say, that year was a challenging one for him!

****I been working on my sewing skills over the past few weeks. I'm not anywhere near "good" by any means, but it feels good to at least work on improving. I made Lizzie some purple pillowcases for her new bed, I made a cover for my Boppy (there was no way that I was going to spend $25 on one at the store!), and I made a Hooter-Hider (a nursing-cover). I didn't have a Hooter-Hider with Lizzie, but it would have been very useful! My sister got one for her new baby and I knew when I saw it that I wanted one too. Of couse, they are super expensive when you buy them at the store. So I looked up a pattern on-line and it turned out okay. I'm excited to use it!

****My brother is getting married on Saturday. I really, really, really, really, really wish that I could be there for the wedding, but there is just no way that I could travel that far away from my doctors this close to the end of my pregnancy. I got opinions from a couple of doctors and they both highly reccomended me NOT going to the wedding for a large variety of reasons which I won't get into. I feel so awful about missing his wedding, but what can I do? I really wish that I could be there to witness that special day in his life, as well as see a bunch of family members that I haven't seen in years and have no idea when I'll have the chance to see them again. Oh well, I suppose that life must go on.

****I LOVE living in our new house. Not just the house, but the entire surrounding area. I really feel like I'm in a completely different city than the city that I have been living in for the last 4 years. It is mostly a residential area, meaning that there are very few businesses close by. It is so calm, peaceful, and QUIET! Lizzie and I have been waking up really early in the morning (6 a.m.) and have been going on nice, long walks together. Lizzie loves it (mainly because she gets her all-time favorite ICE COLD WATER and her new favorite cereal, KIX, to munch on while she sits in the stroller). There a few really nice parks close to our house that we can walk to and just enjoy the beautiful green grass and trees. I LOVE IT and if it wasn't so miserably hot during the day, I would go on 10 walks a day. But for now, we have to basically stay indoors during the day so that we don't FRY LIKE AN EGG outside.

What a fun outing! I think science museums are so much fun. I can't believe your little boy will be here so soon! So exciting. So sorry you have to miss the wedding though. Make sure they take lots of great pictures for you! And make sure you post LOTS of pictures of your darling little guy! :)

Dear Sweet Andrea,

I to am sad you missed your brother's wedding. I missed your Uncle Dave's because I was on my mission, and I didn't get to attend the temple for any of my siblings! However; I had to tell you that your spirit was felt there. It was the sweetest ceremony I have attended. Your brother was so grateful to be getting married in the temple and to his sweet bride that he just cried and cried over the alter. I cried too. I felt Grandma there as well. At the luncheon and reception, Tara put your family picture out so you could be there. What a sweet family you have! I love you and look forward to reading about the new baby. Love, Aunt Stephanie
