Life is Good

I am so blessed to have the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom. I had a dream last night that I had to go back to work. It wasn't a good job either, it was one of my many jobs that I had in college at the Old Gristmill Bread Company. It felt SO real! I was the same person, with a husband and two kids, only I was trapped in the bread store making sandwiches and baking bread while I yearned like crazy to be with my kids. I know that it was only a dream, but it made me appreciate more than ever that my husband has a good job and is able to support our family without me having to work. He works so hard and I am so blessed to have him! He is almost finished with his Master's degree and I am so proud of him and all of his hard work.

I must admit, it was a little difficult being a stay-at-home mom at first. I was so used to working that I just about went crazy being home all day. But those feelings eventually went away and I began to feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to spend every waking moment with Lizzie, and now Bryce. I really admire those mom's who have to work, however, because I can only imagine how difficult it would be to leave your kids every day. There are some pretty tough women out there!

Anyway, here are a few pictures of what we have been up to the last week:

Lizzie trying to hold Bryce (and although it looks like it, Jon isn't intending to choke our newborn).

Lately, Lizzie doesn't really like taking her naps. At least a few times a week, I open up her bedroom door and cast my eyes upon this scene, rather than a sleeping toddler.

Bryce really loves his sister, even when she tortures him with her toys and kisses.

Lizzie in her USU sweatshirt (Go Aggies!!!) watching something on the computer (our version of cable T.V.). Lately, she has been obsessed with these three UTube videos:

The Rising (A Joseph Smith Video)

The Rising 2 (Another Joseph Smith Video)

The Three Witnesses (A song about the three witnesses of the Book of Mormon)

They are pretty good videos!! You should check them out...

Hooray! Pay Day came and we purchased a chandelier for our dining room!! We are so excited to actually see the food that we eat for dinner. :) We also got blinds for our sliding glass doors and temporary blinds (that don't look too bad) for the rest of our windows until we can afford real ones. Hooray for covered windows!! :)

Jon turns 27 today!!! Now that we are the same age, I can no longer claim that I am older and wiser than him, thus having the final say in all of our decisions. :) Nah, I'm sure that I'll still get the final say! What a great husband I have!!

Here is Lizzie, devouring his birthday cake that I made him.

Making his wish and blowing out the candle. Yes, CANDLE. I'm not one of those people to load up the cake with a candle for every year. I could barely stand to put two candles on Lizzie's cake this year. :) Just kidding, I'm not that bad.

Here is a picture of the cake that I made him. It was a homemade yellow cake, with whipping cream and strawberries in the middle, and whipping cream, strawberries and almonds on the outside. I knew that this was Jon's favorite cake , and I tried to make him one on his birthday 3 years ago (when we had been married about a month). That cake ended up being a total disaster and we ended up eating a mound of refrigerated crumbs wrapped in tinfoil. The year after wasn't successful either. I made him 2 cakes. The first one no one else saw but me and the trash can (yes, it was so bad that I had to throw it away). Let's just finish this little paragraph by saying that to have made him a birthday cake this year that was actually edible was quite the accomplishment for me. :)

Cute baby Bryce...

This exercise ball is a lifesaver! I am on that thing almost 24/7 bouncing baby Bryce. He really likes to be bounced and the ball does the trick so perfectly. I secretly wish that my bum was made of bouncy ball material. That way, I could effectively bounce him wherever I go without having to drag that huge ball around. :) Can you imagine the possibilities of portable bouncy-bums? :) Maybe I'll invent one and become famous.

My meager supply of fall decorations...

Our lovely chandelier...

Hmm...I wonder when I'll post again? Maybe I'll set another record and post twice within one week. We'll see...

I love your posts Andrea! Isn't it so precious to watch your children interact together? I bet Bryce is so fun. I bet Lizzie is a good big sister too :) The bouncy ball bum would be a great invention, but be sure to make it different sizes. I wouldn't want a bum as big as the exercise ball :) Horray for covering your windows :) Your cake looks so yummy! Did you make it from scratch? I would have to follow the box directions :/

Your chandelier is beautiful, and your window coverings look great! Add those fall decorations and your house is getting quite the makeover! :) Your bouncy bum sounds awesome, I think you should patent the idea now so that you can make your fortune on it someday. ;) Your cake looks divine! Even if it did take more than one try... and last but not least, your kids are so adorable!

Happy birthday to Jon! Cake looks just lovely, you are wonderful cook Andrea! Your kitchen looks very good! It's so sweet how much Lizzie loves her baby brother. As for sleeping issue, we had the same problem with Nina for a while, but now she is back to normal, falling asleep all by herself like a big girl. Once you over the newborn phase it all goes back to normal, and it is so wonderful that you get to spend every minute of their life watching them grow. I know I'll miss my kids being so little someday. Take care! Olia

Hey I found you through Kirsten, hope you don't mind I am adding you on my list :) Bryce is such a cutie. I wanna glue some of that hair on Lucy so I can play with it! I can't believe how big Lizzie is either. Last time I saw her she seemed like a baby to me still.

It was SO hard for me at first to be a stay-at-home Mom, and it still is! But honestly I woudn't have it any other way. When I think about a stranger watching my kids it makes me sick. We're lucky to have amazing husbands huh!
