December, 2008 -- WARNING: WAY TOO LONG FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!!!

We have been really busy this past month! I really should have posted more often because I have so many pictures that I want to share. Consequently, this post is way too long! I don't expect anyone to read this, of course, it's mainly for my own record-keeping. :)

It snowed on December 17th! It started snowing in the morning and it continued throughout the entire day and evening. At first, I thought that it wasn't going to stick to the ground, but we had a few inches after only and hour or two. It was awesome! The coolest part about the unexpected snowfall was that Jon's school (where he teaches at) got canceled for TWO FULL DAYS!!!! (Only in California do absurd things like that happen). :) And it was even in the middle of finals week! I have never seen Lancaster quite like it was during the two "snow days". Everyone was really nice to one another and told every stranger that they came in contact with about their snow experiences (how they were terrified because their car slipped a few inches on the road, etc.). People were walking around with big smiles on their faces and telling everyone to watch their step. And I really HAD to watch my step. Because ice melt (salt) doesn't exist here! Either do snow plows. Or snow shovels. Or automobile window scrapers. Heck, most people don't even own a pair of gloves! So it's a good thing that the snow only lasted for a day...who knows WHAT would have happened to this poor city had it continued for a few more days! Absolute chaos, that's for sure.

From the 19th to the 22nd, we went to Las Vegas with Jon's family (his parents, and Darlene and Justin). His parents own a time-share at this really nice resort, which makes it really convenient to vacation together. The place where we stayed had one master bedroom (which we thankfully got), a second bedroom, and a living room with a pull-out couch/bed. There is also a dining room and a fully furnished kitchen. It was really nice, basically like a home away from home. We spent the time relaxing at the resort, shopping at the outlets, eating (including at 2 buffets...yummy!!), and playing games. Lizzie did pretty well, besides the last night we were there. That dreaded night, she wouldn't sleep in her pack'n play and so we had to put her in bed with us. Needless to say, it was one of the longest nights of my life! :)

We had a really good Christmas, besides the fact that Lizzie got really sick. She started running a fever on the 23rd and the fever continued to get worse. Finally, at about 2:00 on Christmas Day, her fever rose to a high 103 degrees and we were worried enough to take her into the urgent care. Luckily, it being Christmas and all, it wasn't too crowded. Typically, an urgent care visit can last at least 4 hours. This time, it was only about 2 hours. We found out that Lizzie had a really bad ear infection. Poor girl! She was prescribed this medicine that smells really gross, and it apparently tastes really gross too because we have had the hardest time getting Lizzie to drink it! She screams and cries and clamps her mouth shut. One morning she was having such a fit that immediately after we finally shoved the medicine in her mouth, she vomited ALL OVER ME, and the floor. Consequently getting rid of any of the antibiotic that we had just injected into her mouth. Oh well...such is life! She's getting better now, and I can't wait to see her happy face again on a regular basis!

Although we had a really great Christmas, we couldn't help but miss my family up in Utah. We wish we could have seen you guys too! We hope that you had a great Christmas!! Thanks for the package!! Lizzie really likes the USU sweatshirt!! :)

Anyway, here are a bunch of random pictures (in no particular order):

There was this really neat park for little kids in Vegas. There were a bunch of houses for kids to play in and slides for them to go down. Lizzie especially loved the slides!! :)

Lizzie loved the buffets that we went to. She was crazy about the many varieties of fruit! :)

It was getting really cold outside while we were shopping at one of the outdoor outlets, so I made Lizzie wear this cute little hat (and Jon wanted to add the shades)...

I took Lizzie on her first Merry-Go-Round ride at one of the Vegas malls. This picture was taken before the ride started. I can tell because Lizzie isn't bawling and clinging onto me for dear life. Needless to say, she wasn't too fond of the ride! :)

Lizzie in one of the big tree-houses with Daddy...

Eating breakfast with Grandpa Over...

Lizzie loves her hat's! She even wanted to wear one on our drive to Vegas. :)

Lizzie and Daddy have so much fun together!!!

Why do kids like running around practically naked? :)

Early morning model shots... :)

Lizzie loves to snuggle with her Daddy in the morning...

I hope that Lizzie will eventually start using her fork as a method of self-feeding, not merely a chew toy.

Our snow in the daytime...it was so awesome!!! :)

Lizzie being Lizzie...

This is how Lizzie "prays".

Playing in the "snow". :) I took her in the snow really early in the morning because I wasn't sure how long it would last. I should have done it later, when there was actually snow on the grass! :)

Right after going out in the "cold". :)

The snowy night...

Daddy, Lizzie, and our Pine Tree named Herman. :)

Mommy and Lizzie on the evening of the great snow! :)

Another hat... :)

For Lizzie's big Christmas present, we decided to get her a little Kitchen. It's a really neat one because its "smart". It teaches you how to follow recipes and it names all of the food for you. I really like it...hopefully Lizzie will learn to like it just as much! :) Tara gave Lizzie a ton of additional fake food to go along with her kitchen, so she really has a variety of options! :)

We bought Lizzie this really cute Little People Circus. It was regularly $46 and we got it on sale for $20. It's really awesome! However, I think that I may like it more that Lizzie...

She started playing with her kitchen almost immediately...

She was really grumpy Christmas morning, due to her illness, but here she is attempting to play with her new Little People Circus...

Lizzie can never get enough rubber duckies!!! She loves those things!!!

Sporting her nifty sunglasses...

Reading one of her new books with Mommy...

Jon and I got her 5 books, a baby doll, 3 little duckies, and a big ducky towel (which she LOVES!)...

Lizzie, attempting to open up the presents...

Sick-looking Lizzie with Grandma Over on Christmas...

Darlene and Justin bought Lizzie this cute little piano toy...she really likes it!

Lizzie and Daddy...

Here's Lizzie with one of her numerous hats...

Well, even though Lizzie isn't too fond of her little baby doll yet, it's comforting to know that Jon really enjoys it. :)

Grandma Over gave Lizzie this little dog that barks and moves around when you place it on the ground. At first, she was scared of it, but she has slowly grown accustomed to it!

Grandma Over gave Lizzie this cute little Minnie Mouse doll, and she received this Whinnie-the-Pooh back back from Jon's great-aunt, Josephina.

THE END...FINALLY!!

I love Lizzie in all of her hats. No such thing as too many pictures in a post. I love seeing them. I can't believe how big she is getting. I'm glad you had a good Christmas. Keep the posts coming!

Loving the Kitchen set! Somedays I feel like I need somthing like that to tell me what in the world to cook, help me follow a recipe with ingredients I have no clue about, and then tell me GOOD job or something like that!
LIzzie looks super cute in her hat and glasses on the merry go round! Such fun times with the family for the holidays!
