Beach Trip

This summer has been so fun! I'm a little sad to see it come to an end. It has been awesome because Jon only had to take a few classes and he didn't have to work too much, so we were able to spend a lot of time together as a family.

I'm not sure how it all began, but Jon and I have recently become extremely obsessed with the movie "Jurassic Park". We both read the book, written by Michael Crichton, within a couple of days of each other and then we watched the movie. Over the next few days, we watched "The Lost World" and "Jurassic Park 3". We're huge fans of the first Jurassic Park, but not too fond of the last two movies in the series. We know that we're a little too obsessed because we are constantly quoting the movie and dreaming about dinosaurs on a nightly basis. Jon still has all of the Jurassic Park figurines that he collected when he was younger (the dinosaurs, the movie characters, the vehicles, etc.). We want make our own little home movie by reenacting Jurassic Park using little figurings. Sounds fun, eh?

I'm not sure about most couples, but we have gone through a lot of obsession phases in our marriage. At one time, we were quoting the movie"Hook". We would just sit on the sofa and quote the entire movie! (I know, we are huge dorks!). Another time, we were obsessed with "Ned Ryerson" from Groundhog day. We even googled "Ned Ryerson" and found out that he has his own blog! :)

Oh yeah, right before I started posting today, we had an earthquake! It was in Los Angeles (5.4 Magnitude), so we didn't feel it too badly here, but I still felt it! Lizzie was taking a nap and I was downstairs eating at the kitchen table when I suddenly felt the ground wobbling. Jon was sitting in his car in the garage and he thought that one of his friends was playing a joke on him by moving the car (ha-ha!). It was over before I knew it, but I still got a little bit nervous. I'm not sure what I would have done if it had been worse. I would have probably ran upstairs and grabbed Lizzie before hiding under a doorway. Or something. Hmmm, I suppose that I should probably come up with a plan of some sort.

Anyway, enough of my rambling on. I have posted a bunch of pictures of our little Santa Monica beach trip that we took yesterday. It was really fun!

Lizzie wrapped up in her towel...

Lizzie really loved the sand! I was a little surprised because she is usually hesitant about new textures.

She looked so small crawling on the beach!

Lizzie and I watching the waves at the shore...

Here we are under the pier, I think that the sound of the waves were really relaxing to Lizzie.

We wanted to bury Lizzie in the sand...

She liked it! I enjoyed it too, besides the part of finding sand in every single crevasse of her body, particularly in her diaper! It took FOREVER to clean the sand off! :)

Lizzie kept playing peek-a-boo with us by hiding behind the tent and then looking inside...

On our way home, we stopped at Jack-n-the-Box to eat dinner. Lizzie is wearing one of my T-shirts because I wasn't as prepared as I should have been (for once, Jon usually accuses me of over-packing) and I didn't bring her a jacket.

The beach was really fun!! We are so lucky to live so close to one! :)

You are not at all dorks for being able to quote the whole movie of Hook! That is a classic movie that anyone with really refined taste should know well! :) Love the beach pictures. Isn't summer the greatest thing?

You guys always look like you do the funnest things together! I especially love the one where Elizabeth's legs are covered in sand!

Micheal and I quote entire movies all the time. It's actually a hobby of ours. You guys are such a cute little family. How fun that you were all able to go the beach and have some fun!
